Individual Lessons
Individual lessons are offered at all levels in all keyboard, string, brass, percussion and fingerboard instruments as well as in theory and composition. Settlement requires students to have an instrument for study and, in limited circumstances, may be able to assist students in acquiring instruments on loan. Many local vendors offer instrument rentals at reasonable rates. Settlement maintains and distributes a list of vendors at each branch for the information of students, but not as an endorsement.
Individual voice instruction is offered for students whose voices have changed; generally, age 15 and older; and by audition to 14-year-old students. Group voice lessons are recommended for 13-year-old and most 14-year-old students. The Gleeksman-Kohn Children's Choir is appropriate for younger children in grades 3 through 8 who are interested in developing basic singing skills.
